I LOVE ME, I LOVE ME NOT / ILM,ILMN

a hand-drawn mental-health focused game where you'll play as a sunflower whose petals — representing aspects of their identity — have withered away. you'll wander, explore and meet new friends around this beautiful flower field, each teaching you a healthy habit, helping you grow yourself back together again!

BEHIND THE SCENES / BTS

this game was made using the Unity Engine during my 2023 internship at Unity Technologies! it was part of an onboarding task to prove my skills as a Technical Partner Advisor. i orignially came up with the idea for the game after watching this tiktok, and built upon the concept from there.

also, inspired by my own experiences, i’ve designed the game to deliver an authentic, relatable narrative about mental well-being.

MY RESPONSIBILITY / TASKS

  • designed the game's concept and direction.
  • created hand-drawn (digital) art, for characters and items.
  • created pixel-art, for the world.
  • designed merch (stickers) to sell alongside the game.
  • ported the game to mobile (iOS & Android), and published to App Stores.
  • managed the launch of the game, publishing it to steam, and handling promotion.
  • conducted playtesting to ensure the game met desired standards.
  • collaborated with a music artist, DNDY, to create complimentary BGM.
  • collaborated with a therapist to ensure game was on the right path.
  • collaborated with a games focused mental health charity, Gaming The Mind.
